The Chinese Government takes research integrity issues seriously, and relevant government and funding 

agencies, academies, and the umbrella organization of learned societies, China Association for Science and 

Technology have set up offices or committees in charge of promoting research integrity in their respective 

jurisdictions, including Offices of Research Integrity of two major research funders, Ministry of Science and 

Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Study Ethos Sub-Committees of Ministry of 

Education's Committee on Science and Technology, Committee on Social Sciences, and Scientific Ethics 

Committees of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering. There is a Joint Committee 

for Promoting Research Integrity consisted of 12 agencies and academies, which convenes regularly, 

issues documents, and coordinates the work of education and the handling of research misconduct.


There are normally research ethics or study ethos sub-committees within academic committees of universities, 

colleges and research institutionsThe Ministry of Education and the Chinese Academy of Sciences etc. 

also make relevant regulations and provide guidance, e.g. MOE requires that the universities should make 

public their relevant policies and procedures, contact information for receiving misconduct allegations, and 

the findings of investigation.
